As I woke up bright-eyed a few weeks back on a Saturday morning after I hit the snooze button about a half a dozen times. I finished up some last minute packing details and hit the road to Long Island. I had the privilege to witness the ceremony of my dear friends John and Amy as they start their new journey as husband and wife. The venue was The Watermill in Smithtown, NY it was beautiful and incredibly large. With the temperature being on the chilly side the wedding was downstairs in the larger ballroom flanked by white curtains, white flowers, and around 200 guests. It was so humbling to see and sit next to friends after not crossing paths for many years.
My trip down was timed perfectly as I meet friends at the hotel after taking the scenic route thru the country side of Chatham and Rhinebeck. I even got to meet baby Hazel before we headed to the ceremony. This wedding was a little bit of a reunion of sorts as we reminisced the times we spent celebrating John's 30th at Foxwoods, our weekend in Atlantic City and the many late nights spent in Troy and Albany dancing the night away. I just remember thinking damn those LI boys love to dance. It's still proves true as they didn't leave the dance floor the whole night. The whole ceremony was just perfect as two family religions joined together as one to wish the couple a happy ever-after.
Before the reception ended a few of us ventured outside and I couldn't resist taking some photos with the large white trellis. I surely could imagine this being the spot for many summer weddings in the next few months.
